San Juan Islands 2018

A good start to our 2018 San Juan Island cruise.  We've been all over the place in three days.  Started with a launch at Cap Sante in Anacortes.  Met up with our good friends Mike and Angie.  They showed up with their newly purchased Ross 930.  I thought my boat was crazy, Mike's is nuts.  The mast is a double spreader rig with rod rigging and runners.  The mast is like an oversized fishing pole with all kinds of wires holding it up, crazy.

So we set off to Spencer Spit, then to a remote bay on Sucia where we awoke at about 4am in a washing mashine.  Tired of getting sea sick in our sleep we set off for Shallow Bay for a few more hours of sleep.  After some pancakes and coffee we crossed to Patos where we had a little bit of engine problems, luckily Mike hooked us up on tow.  Patos has a strong current and the shore is rocky but it all worked out fine.  We tied up to a ball, took the zodiac in and hiked to the light.  After some photos we hiked back along the shore checking out the remains of an old Coast Guard outpost.

Making it back to our boats Mike towed us out the entrance. I was then able to start our outboard and get it into high without playing the choke.  From Patos we headed back to the central San Juans passing Clark Island bringing back a ton of childhood memories. Once off of Lydia shoal we parted ways.  Angie had to get back to Olympia to start her new job.  We headed to Blind bay for a sleepy anchorage.

After a night in Blind Bay we motored to Friday Harbor.  I've cleaned the jets on one carburetor and I'll do the other one this morning.  It's amazing what a YouTube video will do.  More Posts to come.
